Following the establishment of the Roster of Experts on biosafety by Decision_EM-I/3 of the Conference of the Parties on the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (ICCP) considered the issue of the roster of experts at each of its three meetings.

The Roster of experts on biosafety evolved considerably in response to the specific recommendations of the ICCP. It is now possible for BCH focal points, and experts if permission granted by the BCH focal point, to modify and update their own information electronically.
